A new album will be released by Sony connected to the tour. It is an anthology called “Discover” that gives an overview of these first 15 years of Carlos’s career, with several unreleased tracks and collaborations. We will keep informing you about the albums’ many details.
The day before his National Concert Hall show, Carlos will talk at the Instituto Cervantes about his recent adventure in Brazil, that resulted in his acclaimed new album “Alborada do Brasil”.
He will make a special mention of the Hy Brasil legend, well known in Ireland, that according to some scholars originated the name of Brazil, when the 16th century Portuguese sailors thought to have set foot on the mysterious island.
Hy Brasil is the name of a track in the album in which Carlos plays Irish-sounding Brazilian music with his mentors and friends The Chieftains.
The conference will be presented by the Spanish Ambassador in Ireland, Mercedes Rico.

A firm favourite with Irish audiences Carlos Núñez returns to The National Concert Hall with a stunning show based on his latest acclaimed album “Alborada do Brasil”, exploring the musical links between his native Galicia and Brazil. After previous collaborations with everyone from The Chieftains to Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder to Monserrat Caballé, Núñez originally visited Brazil on the trail of his emigrant grandfather. With Galicia and Portugal having once formed a single medieval kingdom, he discovered that Galician bagpipes like his own had preceded him there by some 500 years. Alongside Núñez’s regular band, tonight’s performance features Brazilian guests.
“The German music critics” have published their list of the best new releases for the fist quarter of 2011. Carlos Nunez “Alborada do Brasil” was selected in the World Music category. The award is sponsored and supported by the German Ministry for Culture and Media.
