15- THE FOGGY DEW

The mid ’90s were the peak of The Chieftains collaborations with the “stars” that would result in their album “The Long Black Veil”. Carlos was touring with them around the world, meanwhile their “Santiago” album was underway.

In ‘94, in only one month Carlos would play twice in Carnegie Hall, in The Who’s concert (with Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder…) and in The Chieftains’ own (with Sinéad O’Connor, Marianne Faithfull performing, or Sting and Mia Farrow backstage).

It was in those recording sessions in New York that Carlos met Ry Cooder and began talking to him and Paddy Moloney about going to Cuba, that he had recently visited for a concert to celebrate the anniversary of the Galician anthem’s first performance in Havana
